This Report Is Designed to Get a Theoretical View of the Existing

Question: Discuss about the Report Is Designed to Get a Theoretical View of Existing features? Answer: Introduction This report is designed to get a theoretical view of the existing features of server operating system such as Linux and Windows. These two server operating systems are continuously used in field of education by students and also in large business organizations. But with advancement in technologies, various advanced operating systems have already developed by companies and it is important for students to know about those operating systems. The modern and advanced operating systems those are getting so much popularity among people are Android Operating Systems, Distributed Computing Systems, Solaris Operating Systems, Linux Operating System, Virtual Computing Systems, MAC OS X etc. Here in this report we will discuss in detail about Virtual Computing Systems and will emphasize on its technical details, advantages and disadvantages [1]. Keyword: Virtual Computing, Operating Systems. Background According to concept of virtual computing, a single computer can perform like numerous computers. It allows computer users to access software applications and processes from remote locations when they need it [2]. This access can be gained via internet through a network or wireless server. Virtual Computing Systems is based on virtualization and the first commercial main frame that was developed for supporting virtualization was CP-67 System. Here CP stands for Control Program. By using CP, virtual machine was created. The main idea behind implementation of virtual computing systems was Control Program (CP) will run on the Mainframe and create Virtual Machines that will run on CMS and user interaction will be possible. User Interaction is very much important in operating systems that is why IBM focused on development of interactive operating systems. In this virtual computing systems come into existence [3]. Discussion By using virtual computing systems, possibilities and performances have increased in the world of Information Technology with increasing storage space, performance and troubleshooting solutions, more software applications and data backup [4]. With the help of virtual computing systems, it has become easier for users to download and use more than one operating systems. Besides this, multiple functions can also be performed in single mouse click. With the help of virtual computing systems, various benefits of additional programs and hardware, can get by users without their installation. Email checking anytime and from anywhere, online teaching classes by students and storage of business documents on internal servers everywhere in the world, are possible with the help of virtual computing systems. Virtual Computing is a real time technology and it offers operating and utility systems, software, memory, data backup, monitoring and system managing tools, allocation and reassignment of inp ut/output and other processes. This technology is a way to boost up size, performance, processes, software applications and capabilities. For all users who are using virtual computing systems it is possible to access software applications for single computer and as well as for entire network. Virtual servers are considered best way to backup data and text documents. Besides this, the process of allocation and reallocation of processes is also done appropriately with the help of virtual servers. A computer system with virtual computing operates at optimal speeds. Therefore, it will be better to use virtual computing systems for students and as well as for other users. To get better outcomes from this new operating system, its configuration should be done in proper ways. Technical Details about Virtual Computing Systems For better configuration of virtual computing systems, knowledge about technical details of these systems is necessary to have. The providers of Virtual Computing are increasing continuously and the major providers of these systems are HP, Microsoft and VMware. According to market analysis, it is found that VMware Workstation 5.0 virtual machine is commonly used for creating Virtual Computing Systems and this process requires following technical specifications [6]: Processor: For virtual computing systems, 64-bit processor is required to use to get quick results. Chip Set: The chip set for Virtual Computing Systems should be Intel 440BX-based motherboard, NS3338 SIO and 82093AA IOAPIC [10]. BIOS: For virtual computing system development by VMware, PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6 with VESA BIOS is used by developers. Here BIOS is basic input/output system. Memory: The memory required for virtual computing system should upto 3.6 GB and it will be depending on host memory. Maximum 4GB memory will be total available for all virtual machines [5]. Graphics: SVGA and VGA graphic cards are supported by Virtual Computing Systems. IDE Drivers: These drivers are one of the main requirements of Virtual Computing Systems and these include disks, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM. Here hard disks can be virtual disks or physical disks. Floppy Devices: In Virtual Computing Systems, up to two 1.44 MB floppy devices are required. Besides this, physical drivers or floppy images files are also required. Ports: In Virtual Computing Systems floppy drivers, serial ports, parallel ports and USB ports are also included in its technical specifications. Keyboard: It is should be of 104 key Windows 95/98 enhanced. These are some essential technical specifications for virtual computing systems to run this system smoothly and for its better performance. Besides this, PS/2 mouse and serial drawing tablets, three virtual Ethernet card, sound input and output and virtual networking with nine or more Ethernet switches, Ethernet based protocols and NAT must be included in virtual computing systems configuration. Advantages and Disadvantages of Virtual Computing Systems After discussing about technical specifications of virtual computing systems, now in this segment of report, we will discuss about advantages and disadvantages of virtual computing systems. It will help to understand positive and negative aspects of using these systems [7]. Advantages: The advantages of virtual computing systems vary and it depends upon the user. One of the main advantage of Virtual Computing Systems is that it provides faster system speeds by freeing up the system, memory and storage [8]. The efficiency is increased by allocating processes of computers to virtual environment in Virtual Computing Systems. By doing this, computer can be available for other processes and applications. Virtual Computing Systems provide easy maintenance, availability, convenient recovery and application provisioning. Easier backup and recovery is possible in virtual computing systems in much swifter and accurate way with less manpower. Disadvantages: Besides advantages, there are also some disadvantages of virtual computing systems that are listing as below: As we know virtual computing systems allow servers to perform more tasks and run more applications, it is considered a time consuming job for some IT staff [9]. In Virtual Computing Systems remote applications are used but still managers can track and monitor files, applications, storage and data usages. The issues of security and firewall are also monitored in virtual computing systems. This leads to lack of prevention in data in virtual or remote environment. The establishment of virtual computing system is expensive and due to this some small level organizations cannot use this technology. Conclusion At last we conclude that, today every individual wants to work with advanced and quick operating systems with their best performances. Virtual Computing Systems have potential to fulfil these requirements of operating users. The main feature of virtual computing system is that it enhances overall performance, reliability and usability of computer system by managing storage space and systems components for all its processes. In conventional operating system, this feature did not work appropriately. But now all modern operating systems are developed with virtual technology. Therefore, IT users should move on to virtual computing systems to get better and quick outcomes. Not only for business organizations, but also for students, virtual computing systems are providing various benefits such as remote access college or University system for access academic information and online training can also be provided in virtual environment.
